JCCIH Endorses Candidates for the General Election
The Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaiʻi (JCCIH) announces its endorsements for the 2020 General Election.
JCCIH, which represents more than 300 business and community leaders on Hawaiʻi Island, conducted surveys of candidates in Federal, State, and local races, and asked members to select the final slate. The JCCIH Board voted to affirm the membership’s vote. JCCIH Government Affairs Committee co-chairs, Audrey Takamine and Kaʻiu Kimura oversaw the endorsements process.
We encourage all members, businesses, and community members to vote. The general election is November 3. All voting will be by mail and voters should receive ballots by October 16.
JCCIH fosters economic sustainability as well as perpetuating the Japanese cultural heritage and traditions in Hawaiʻi. Its mission is to promote the wellbeing of our community through business and personal relationships that embody the values of Kahiau & Okage Sama De. In Hawaiian, Kahiau means “giving without expecting anything in return”. Okage Sama De is a Japanese proverb, which means “I am what I am because of you”.
